The Darling Emma...

Meet Emma Dilemma.
This indearing moniker was handed to her from a babysitter at a very young age, and has stuck with her into adulthood.
I had the pleasure of working with Emma at our local art Gallery, the MacLaren Art Centre, where she was in charge of the Sunday Family Workshops; a free drop in art class for children and families from the Barrie community. With her trusty son/sidekick Phoenix by her side, (probably the cutest, wittiest 11 year old you’ll ever meet) she taught everything from printmaking to painting every Sunday afternoon.
After relocating her family to New Brunswick over a year ago, Emma has rediscovered her long lost love for beading. Employing her keen eye for colour and design gained while attaining two fine art diplomas, she has created a successful online business for herself. Her store DarlingDilemma has opened up an avenue for her to share her beautiful creations with the world.
Her beaded necklaces and earrings are positively stunning, and are accompanied by whimsical descriptions that really give a backdrop for the inspiration behind each piece.  Emma creates unique pieces for each season, it is easy to find something new from DarlingDilemma to add to your seasonal wardrobe.
With over 30 sales in her store and counting, Emma also takes customs orders, and has found that since opening that avenue for her customers, the orders have more than doubled. Check out her blog here, and enter her contest for a chance to win a DarlingDilemma creation.

Out on the Farm...

This weekend for me was a blessed one. I had the great opportunity to visit a friend's farm and be inspired by the beauty of nature. The Ontario  Escarpment, in my humble opinion, is one of the most beautiful places in the world; I am so grateful for the time I spent there this weekend. My two beautiful sisters and our friend Jason helped me to take some photos for my online store, with the farm and surrounding area as the backdrop. As the night went on, my extremely talented friends converted the front area of the house into a recording studio and had a great time playing together and recording some tracks, which I am very excited to hear. It was oh so very nice to be surrounded by friends and gorgeous Ontario landscapes. It was a real stress reliever, and I am sad that I had to come home. If you ever have the opportunity to get out to the Creemore/Avening area, DO IT! A piece of my soul lives there...

Blue Jean Baby

Since joining the Esty community, I have found myself astonished as I find wonderfully creative and talented individuals around every corner. It seems like everyday I find something new to spend enormous amounts of time perusing through. I especially love the treasuries. I mean, who wants to spend hours shifting through the crap to find those few wonderful gems, when there are lists of them right at your finger tips. It was only until recently (and by recently I mean last night and this morning) that I really took the time to put together my own treasury. And I may or may not be tooting my own horn here, but I am very proud to say that it made it to the front page!! A huge thanks to the powers that be that chose my lovelies to be showcased, and to all the wonderful artisans and vintage vendors that make up the list. Click here to check out my denim themed treasury, Blue Jean Baby.

Cartwheels all over the world...

If you ask anyone who knows me, whenever I find myself in a new and interesting place, with a wonderful back drop, I must do a cartwheel to show my excitement. More often than not, this first cartwheel of joy is followed by many more not-so-joyous cartwheels in an attempt to capture my original glory on film. Here are just a few of my favourites...

Quebec City, Quebec -- May 2010
Las Vegas, Nevada -- May 2010
Noriega's Balcony, Farralon, Panama -- January 2009

Nova Scotia Border -- April 2009
Times Square, New York -- October 2009
